Pair of English Regency Ebonized & Parcel-Gilt Lyre-Back Side Chairs, c. 1820

Elegant pair of English Regency side chairs, dating to the early 19th century. The finely proportioned ebonized frames are highlighted with delicate parcel-gilt decoration and centered by distinctive neoclassical lyre-form splats.

Raised on slender turned and tapered legs, the chairs retain a beautifully aged surface with characteristic wear and traces of their long history. The seats have been newly upholstered by us in a vintage Italian linen, chosen for its subtle texture and warm neutral tone.

Petite in scale yet fully functional, the pair works beautifully as occasional chairs, bedroom chairs, or placed symmetrically on either side of a console.

Condition: Good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. Evidence of previous upholstery and historic/later restoration and reinforcement to the frames. Newly upholstered in vintage Italian linen.
